Title: Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki)

Language: Japanese

Genre: Slice of Life, Fantasy

Wolf Children is the heartwarming story about the challenges of being a single mother in an unforgiving modern world.

Hana gives birth to two healthy children—Ame, born during rainfall, and Yuki, born during snowfall—both possessing the ability to turn into wolves, a trait inherited from their father. All too soon, however, the sudden death of her lover devastates Hana's life, leaving her to raise a peculiar family completely on her own. The stress of raising her wild-natured children in a densely populated city, all while keeping their identity a secret, culminates in a decision to move to the countryside, where she hopes Ame and Yuki can live a life free from the judgments of society.

Review: (5/5 stars)

I used to watch this film when I was like 14/15, but now I re-watching it again.

I didn't have problem about its animation or anything, all is perfect for me.

There's a lot of things we can learn from this movie. The hardship of single mothers, and how all of us grow up in our mother's perspective. From our birth to the present us, it all happens in a blink of eye for her. And you totally feel it by the end of the movie, after all the troubles she went through for 12 years raising Yuki and Ame, and how she reminisced back while smiling on her face.

We can see how different Ame and Yuki when they were young— Yuki being wild and uncontrollable, Ame being fragile and scared of everything. Now that they had grew up, being wise and found their own world, their decision determines what kind of life they wanted to pursue.

A heartwarming story about childhood, and about our life decisions. A totally must watch.

best wishes,
